What replacing a window actually costs in the Hudson Valley

Most window companies won't show you a number until a salesperson has sat at your kitchen table. We price differently, so here's the honest math for the most common job we see: one standard white vinyl double-hung window, roughly 24×48, in a sound opening.

On the ground floor with normal access, Lux replaces that window for about $1,190 all-in. On a second floor with standard ladder access it's about $1,450. That price includes the new window itself, removal and disposal of the old unit, flashing and sealing, insulation foam and caulk, shims and fasteners, and basic interior trim — one visit, one exact price before we start.

What moves the number up: a premium or custom-size unit, hidden rot or framing repair we can only confirm once the old window is out, resizing the opening, masonry work, extensive siding reconstruction, scaffold or lift access on tall gables, and lead-safe work practices in pre-1978 homes. Each of those is a specific, stated add-on — never quietly folded into every quote.

What moves it down: doing several identical windows in the same visit. The trip, setup and disposal are shared, so per-window cost drops when we replace a run of them together.
